Hapa Kitchen Hapa ‘Cue

06/06/09: Turns out there’s no better way to combat jet lag then to step off a plane from Tokyo and work non-stop for 3 days in a New York summer. In conjunction with Finger On the Pulse and Mean Red Productions, we decided to do a barbeque, Hapa-style—which meant meat on sticks, cole slaw, baked beans and potato salad, all made with our unique, half-Asian twist. Tamarack Hollow Farm provided us with their delicious pork; the Treats Truck was supposed to show up to take care of dessert, but bailed. We were told to prep for 200 people but more than double that showed up, and food tickets sold out just 45 minutes after the gates were opened. Happily, the beer was flowing all night, so those who missed out on the food got drunk, danced to the beats and hung out next to the Gowanus canal.
